Welcome to Our Happy Tale!
We have decided to stop raising yorkshire terriers until our kids are a little older. We love doing it but I am finding it is nearly impossible to raise little ones and puppies at the same time! :)
I (Laura) have been raising dogs since high school. I started out with Suzy, my chocolate Labrador Retriever and moved to two different breeds (Basset Hounds and English Bulldogs) before finding Yorkshire Terriers. I love the whole process and have always wanted to make it a side hobby that was fun. I discovered Yorkshire Terriers and bought my first pair of Yorkies in the summer of 2009 and have come to love the breed. I love their happy-go-lucky nature, willingness to play, and their love for a good cuddle.
We live out on a farm in NW Kansas. My husband farms and ranches. I worked as a nurse before deciding to stay at home with our children. Along with the Yorkies we also have chickens, cats, and cattle.
We enjoy taking them out for walks and letting them be a part of our family. It would not be unusual for a passerby to see a whole pack of Yorkies running around us as we walk down our country roads. We are well aware of their health and their individual personalities. The majority of the time our dogs are outside in a heated/air conditioned building with long runs to play in and the freedom to go in and outside as they please. But we frequently bring them in for baths and social time with the humans. :) After our puppies are weaned (between 5 and 6 weeks) they spend all of their time indoors with our family. They get to spend a lot of time with our children! Every year each adult Yorkie has their teeth cleaned and are up to date on their vaccinations. We also screen for Brucellosis in all of our adult Yorkies. We are state licensed breeders.
We sell all of our puppies directly to their new homes. We want to know where our puppies are going...from our family to yours. We do not go through pet stores or brokers. We also strive to place all of our retired breeders in homes where they will be loved and treated kindly the rest of their lives after spaying and neutering them.
We hope so much that you enjoy this site. If you have any questions please feel free to click on the Contact Information link and call or send me an e-mail. I would love to talk to you about the breed and hopefully help you find the perfect fit for your family!
